The Cell and its Organelles

I know and can describe many, if not all of the organelles and their functions. I know that the Nucleolus is the dark stained area in the center of the Nucleus. The Nucleolus is in charge of creating new Ribosomes for the cell. I know that the Smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum is in charge of making Lipids and Steroids. It will also detoxify harmful material and waste products.

I also know how some cell organelles work together with one another. I know that Ribosomes will make proteins that are carried by the Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum. The type of protein the Ribosomes make is decided by the Nucleolus.

I would also be able to tell what cell organelle I am looking at if I was shown a picture.

  1. Good job! You covered all of the points and you seem to know all of the organelles and their functions in the cell. Maybe just give some more detail as to how all of the organelles work together. Grade: 3.5

  2. Shae, I wish that you had a different title for each of your blog entries. That way it would be easier to find the one a person is looking for without looking at all of them specifically :) I wish you had continued on with your blog as it was a really good start to a discussion of the cell organelles. I'd have liked to see you discuss them all, and then, like Teagan said, give more detail as to how they work together to get a particular job done (like making a hormone or protein). Next time you receive feedback from a peer, try to heed his/her advice. Also, when you said:"The type of protein the Ribosomes make is decided by the Nucleolus" you were mistaken. the type of protein the ribosomes make is not decided by the nucleolus. Which organelle does decide this? 2
